except during typhoon blows from the liorth round to E.S.E. The possibility is very remote of any disturbance caused alongside the quay wall at North Point by the N.E. monsoon affecting wharfage constructed in Hung Hom Bay.
Objections (a) & (b) apparently do not apply to the special conditions affecting the development of the North Point foreshore. As regards Objection (c), the Consulting Engineers' views have been accepted to the extent that a properly constructed solid block work wall will not suffer damage from any seas within the Harbour, also, that ships must get into the open away from wharves during typhoon weather. Accordingly, the proposal for constructing reinforc ed concrete wharfage in front of an ordinary type sea wall at North Point has been abandoned and a quay wall constructed in solid blockwork substituted therefor. This necessitated a
slight modification in the seaward limit of the reclamation
shown on plan "A", in order to arrange for suitable berthage
and that the quay wall may be founded at economical depths.
The modified line of frontage is shown on plan "B".
The scheme shown on plan "B" is that referred to in Hr. Duncan's report dated December 1924 on the Commercial
Development of the Port of Hong Kong. The scheme provides
for the construction of a solid blockwork wall on the line
marked "modified line of seaward limit of reclamation", and for the construction of an ordinary filled in reclamation shown coloured brow and red behind this wall. A proposed junk basin 160 feet in width is shown coloured yellow within the easterly section of the reclamation. It is anticipated, however, that the construction of this basin will prove too expensive for economical working, in which event, the area of the proposed basin will be reclaimed.
The area shown coloured brown on plen "B" comprises Marine Lots 430 & 431 purchased by Mr. Kwik Djoen Eng, who,
